Biography & Memoir Archive is an independent catalogue of public-domain ebooks devoted to life writing, personal testimony, and the historical record. Our aim is to gather, organise, and present these works in a way that respects their original character while making them more accessible and meaningful for today’s readers. How the Catalogue Works

Every ebook in our collection has been sourced from trusted digital repositories of public-domain material. We do not create new editions from scratch; instead, we review existing digital transcriptions, check their metadata, and present them with contextual notes that help readers understand the work’s background, themes, and significance. Where available, we include reading companions, edition insights, and guides to further exploration.

The catalogue is organised into four broad categories, each reflecting a distinct area of life writing and historical narrative:

• Biographies — Individual life stories, autobiographies, and first-person accounts.
• Memoirs — Works that place lives within larger historical, cultural, or national contexts.
• Diaries Journals — Fictional works that draw on real lives or social observation, presented with contextual essays.
• Letters Recollections — Memoirs and biographies centred on family, relationships, and domestic spheres.

Each title is accompanied by a short editorial note that may include a summary of the work’s content, its historical setting, the author’s background, and pointers for critical reading. These notes are written by our editorial team and are intended to enrich, not replace, the reader’s own encounter with the text.
